本校為嗇色園主辦的政府資助中學，秉承嗇色園的辦學宗旨， 為香港青少年提供中學教育服務，為社會培養人才。
嗇色園成立於一九二一年，是本着黃大仙師之寶訓「普濟勸善」為宗旨的宗教慈善機構，以宣揚儒、釋、道三教教義，推行各項宗教活動。善業範疇，包括興學育才、贈醫送葯、安老扶幼、救災恤難等。一九六九年可立中學建成，為嗇色園興學之始，至今二十餘年間，先後開辦有五所資助中學、四所資助小學、六所非牟利幼稚園，以及一所自然教育中心暨天文館-可觀自然教育中心暨天文館。
嗇色園主辦的五所資助中學分別為可立中學、可風中學、可道中學、可藝中學及可譽中學暨可譽小學。
其轄下的四所資助小學分別為可信學校、可銘學校及可立小學及可譽中學暨可譽小學。
而六所非牟利幼稚園則為可仁幼稚園、可德幼稚園及可德幼兒中心、可瑞幼稚園、可立幼稚園、可正幼稚園、可愛幼稚園。
Our school is a government-aided school sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen, providing secondary education to youths and training talented people in Hong Kong according to the guiding principle of ‘education for all’.
Sik Sik Yuen is a charitable organization established in 1921. Following closely the motto of Wong Tai Sin, ‘ to act benevolently and to teach benevolence’, it preaches the teachings of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and organizes a variety of activities like sponsoring schools, giving free medical consultation and medicine, housing the aged, aiding the young in need and giving relief to victims of disasters, etc. Its sponsorship and establishment of Ho Lap College in 1969 was followed by 5 government-aided secondary schools, 4 government-aided primary schools, 7 non-profit-making kindergartens, and a natural education centre and planetarium – Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre.
The five government-aided secondary schools are Ho Lap College, Ho Fung College, Ho Dao College, Ho Ngai College and Ho Yu College and Primary School.
The four government-aided primary schools are Ho Shun Primary School, Ho Ming Primary School, Ho Lap Primary School and Ho Yu College and Primary School.
The six non-profit-making kindergartens are Ho Yan Kindergarten, Ho Tak Kindergarten and Ho Tak Child Care Centre, Ho Shui Kindergarten, Ho Lap Kindergarten, Ho Ching Kindergarten and Ho Oi Day Nursery.
